MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Department of Athletics posted a 3.28 GPA for the 2015-16 academic year. The GC Women’s Tennis team took team GPA honors in the Bobcat Athletic Department, ending a three-year run at the top for Bobcat Women’s Cross Country. The GC Women’s Tennis team posted an amazing 3.65 GPA combined for the two semesters, leading the 11 Bobcat varsity sports teams.
Women’s Cross Country was narrowly edged, owning a 3.63 upended after posting a department-best 3.72 in the fall. Bobcat Softball and Volleyball tied for third with a 3.53 GPA.
In fifth was GC Soccer, owning a 3.46, followed by Men’s Cross Country and Men’s Tennis, tied for the top men’s program honors at 3.22.
The athletic department as a whole posted a 3.28 GPA for the year, the fourth-straight year recording a record high. The Bobcats were balanced, with a 3.28 in the spring and another 3.28 in the fall. Ten of the 11 varsity sports had above a 3.0 GPA and a whopping 76 percent of student-athletes has a 3.0 or above in the 2015-16 school year.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
