LEXINGTON, S.C. – The Georgia College Baseball team (13-11) nearly matched No. 7 University of Mount Olive (18-6) punch-for-punch Wednesday, as the Bobcats lost a tight 9-8 game to the Trojans at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

Second baseman Cal Gentry (Perry, Georgia) exploded for a pair of two-run home runs, finishing 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored. For Gentry, the two home runs tie his total for the entire 2018 season.

Gentry's second bomb tied the game in the top of the fourth. In the seventh, the Bobcats took an 8-6 lead on a two-run round-tripper from designated hitter Will Hudgins (Dunwoody, Georgia). The home run was Hudgins' team-high fourth.

UMO answered right back with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, taking the lead on a two-run double down the rightfield line by centerfielder Jon Cosme. Reliever Trey Pate got the final six outs in order to close out the game.

GC lefty Bryce Bowen (Elberton, Georgia) took the loss (0-2) as he put the go-ahead run on in the seventh. Along with Gentry, catcher Austin Holloway (Social Circle, Georgia) was another hitting star, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, March 22 at 6 p.m., traveling to UNC Pembroke
