MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Golf program and head coach Patrick Garrett have released the schedule for the upcoming fall, featuring four road tournaments in three states.
The year starts as it always does, at the Kiawah Island Invitational in South Carolina Sept. 17-18. The Bobcats missed this tournament last season with poor weather conditions.
Next comes the Jay Jennison Cup in St. Augustine, Florida Sept. 24-25. The Bobcats return to this tourney after taking a year away from it as well.
The lone Peach State event comes at the UNG Fall Invitational in Dahlonega Oct. 1-2.
The fall season wraps up with the Copperhead Championship Oct. 15-16 in Palm Harbor, Florida. This marks the second season the Bobcats have participated in this tourney.
Georgia College Golf had six top-10 finishes a year ago, including a season-best fourth at the Richard Rendleman Invitational in North Carolina. The Bobcats will look to some fresh faces after graduating a pair of seniors a year ago in former All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) choice Thomas Hodges and Division I transfer Justin Connelly. Back is the team's stroke-average leader in Austin Mancilla (Lawrenceville), as the now-junior averaged 73.9 over his eight events.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup and the 2017 PBC Sportsmanship Institution of the Year, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
