DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Georgia College Men's Basketball team (0-1) lost a close battle with Erskine College (1-0) in a non-conference battle Friday evening in Dahlonega, 66-62.
2018 PBC Freshman of the Year Jordan Thomas (Conyers) led the Bobcat offense with 17 points on 6-for-18 shooting. The sophomore guard made four three pointers and also grabbed six boards on for the game.
The senior duo of Desmond Mitchell-LaFlam (New Smyrna Beach, Florida) and Isaac Thomas (Trion) also reached double-digits in the scoring column. Mitchell-LaFlam notched 10 points, while Thomas was just two behind the team-leader with 15 of his own. Each also pulled down six rebounds.
A strong second-half push for Erskine was the tale of the night, as Georgia College could not hold on to their 36-30 halftime lead. Both teams drilled in seven three pointers, however Georgia College trailed by two points in the field goal percentage category, shooting 34.8%. The Bobcats were outrebounded on the night, 48-40.
Kohl Roberts (Atlanta) was impactful off the bench, nearly notching a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds. The Bobcat junior also dished out a pair of assists.
Georgia College aims to grab their first win of the season tomorrow on the second day of the 2018 Tipoff Classic, as they take on North Greenville University in another non-conference matchup. Action begins at 5:30 p.m.
