ATLANTA – The No. 22 Georgia College tennis team (1-0) made short work of Morehouse University (0-1) in both teams' season opener Sunday, a 9-0 shutout and a Bobcat win.
The doubles were a near-blanking with Morehouse picking up just one game. Mattia Campus (Concorezzo, Italy) and Pedro Ecenarro (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) were first to finish, beating Brandon Saunders and P.J. Stamps by shutout in the second slot. Vincent Castermans (France) and Kyle Kinsler (Suwanee) added another shutout in third doubles over Christian Medley and Jabez Beazer.
Waern's shutout of Hill in the second slot got the singles results started, and Powell provided the clinching point in fourth singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Saunders.
Next came Ecenarro with a shutout of Beazer in the third slot, then Kinsler went 6-0, 6-2 in sixth singles over Medley. Castermans beat Reese in the first position 6-2, 6-0 and Campus closed out action with another shutout against Stamps.
