Bobcat Men’s Cross Country Takes on Season’s Toughest Field at Mountain Dew Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Georgia College Men's Cross Country team raced Saturday morning at the Mountain Dew Invitational, a mixed-division meet at the University of Florida. The Bobcats finished 20th of 31 teams.

The Bobcats finished 14th among non-Division I schools in the 8K men's race with 529 team points, just 11 behind Division I Florida Atlantic University.

Freshman Jack Rhodes (Roswell, Georgia) led the Bobcats in 57th place in the massive 304-runner field, crossing the line in 27:29. Second on the team and 110th overall was senior Shawn Olmstead (Buford, Georgia) finishing in 28:19.

Sophomore Quillian Holland (Dublin, Georgia) was 114th in 28:31, while classmate Lance Underwood (Blairsville, Georgia) finished 167th in 29:39. Rounding out the scoring finishes was senior Matt Rogel (Sautron, France) crossing the line in 29:44 and 170th place.

The GC Men finished ahead of three Division I programs, as Florida A&M took 25th, Bethune-Cookman University was 26th and Jacksonville University 30th.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Sept. 17 at the Queen City Invite, hosted by Queens University.
