INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA released the first round of Division II Softball Region Rankings this week, with Georgia College (30-18) positioned No. 9 in the Southeast Region.

With the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament in Milledgeville this weekend, the Bobcats are ninth in the region behind four league schools. The University of North Georgia takes the top slot, followed by Armstrong State University and Young Harris College third. Limestone College of the Conference Carolinas (CC) is fourth, with the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) represented by Lenoir-Rhyne University in fifth. Pfeiffer University from the CC is sixth. Carson-Newman University from the SAC comes in seventh and the PBC's Flagler College is ahead of the Bobcats. SAC school Anderson University rounds out the top-10.

The final version of this poll is used to determine the five at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament, beginning May 12. The region has three automatic bids, given to the tournament champions for the PBC, SAC and CC, and the five remaining slots are filled by the final version of this poll.

GC Softball is back in action Friday, April 21 at 4 p.m., the No. 5-seed Bobcats beginning the 2017 PBC Tournament against No. 4-seed Young Harris.
