AMERICUS, Ga. - The Georgia College Softball team (17-10, 1-1 PBC) had a final-inning rally fall short at Georgia Southwestern State University (10-10, 1-1 PBC) Saturday, settling for a split in both teams' first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) action. The Bobcats took game one 5-2 and dropped the second game 4-2.

Senior Kayla Price (Indian Land, South Carolina) was dominant in game one, scattering five hits and two walks for just two runs. Price (3-1) fanned six on the day, and didn't allow a single runner into scoring position outside of the two-run third.

Rightfielder Sarah Couch (Madison) was 2-for-4 with two runs, a double and three steals. Second baseman Ariel Edenfield (Dublin) was 2-for-4 with an RBI, singling home the key third run in the third.

In game two, the Bobcats fell behind early after two Hurricane runs in the first. A passed ball in the third helped GC cut the lead in half.

Down 4-1 heading to the seventh, the Bobcats plated a run on a sacrifice fly, but couldn't get a clutch hit to inch any closer.

Sophomore Jessie Morris (Vidalia) threw four innings in the loss, falling to 5-4 but tallying five strikeouts.

Couch had two more hits and two runs. Centerfielder Caroline Snider (Tennille) also had a pair of hits and two steals.

The Bobcats are back in action Thursday, March 14 at 1:30 p.m., playing host to Anderson University.
