MILLEDGEVILE, Ga-  Georgia College Women's Basketball (6-10, 4-6 PBC) took on the Columbus State University Cougars (8-7, 5-6 PBC) with the Bobcats winning 71-58.

The first quarter was a high-scoring three-point shootout between Sydney Cleveland (Gainesville) and the whole Cougars team, with CSU knocking down five three pointers and Cleveland nailing three of her own. Cleveland finished the game with 15 points. The pace slowed down significantly in the second quarter with both teams struggling to find their rhythm on offense.

By the midway point in the third quarter 67 percent of Columbus State's points had come from behind the three-point line. The Cougars finished with nine three pointers for the game, one shy of tying their season high.

The Bobcats held the lead for a majority of the game but surrendered the lead briefly during a rough patch in the third quarter. That acted as a wake-up call for the GC Women as they regained the lead about a minute later and never looked back. A 14-5 run in the fourth quarter helped put the game away for the Bobcats.

Jasmine McSwain (Marietta) had a relatively quiet first half, but finished the game right around her average with 17 points. Erin Drynan (Chicago, Illinois) had a monster game on the boards in her second game back from injury, grabbing a season-high 15 boards during the contest.

This win ended Georgia College's five game losing streak. The Bobcats will look to build momentum Jan. 26 in the Centennial Center at 1:30 p.m. against No. 22  University of North Georgia.
