TEMPE, Ariz. – The Georgia College Women's Tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team status and put three student-athletes on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list as well for the 2018 season.

The senior trio of Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville, Georgia), Kristen Jones (Marietta, Georgia) and Emma Niemi (Cumming, Georgia) each earned ITA Scholar-Athlete awards. This honor is given to all varsity letterwinners with two semesters at current school and at least a 3.50 GPA for the 2017-18 school year. This marks the fourth appearance on the list for Jones and the second for both Kelly and Niemi.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2017 and spring 2018).

The Bobcats get the season rolling with a fall tournament schedule coming shortly. GC Women's Tennis went 15-8 in 2018, advancing to the NCAA Southeast Regional for the 24th straight season. The 2018 PBC Runners-Up will look to a two-member senior class for leadership, looking to replace the efforts left by these three graduates in Kelly, Jones and Niemi.

The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup and the 2017 PBC Sportsmanship Institution of the Year, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
