ITA Regional Play Wraps Up for GC Women’s Tennis

SUMTER, S.C. – Georgia College Women's Tennis finished action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regionals Saturday.

The winner's bracket doubles run for sophomores Emma Fleming (Suwanee, Georgia) and Jordan Bowie (Macon, Georgia) came to a close in the round of 32. There, the Bobcats took the fight to Flagler College's No. 9-seed of Paloma Martinez and Alessandra Traub in a 7-6(2) loss.

In singles play, Bowie won over Erskine College's Faith Wright in a 5-7, 7-5, 1-0(3) bout, advancing to the fourth round of the consolation bracket. Awaiting Bowie there is No. 3-seed Ana Carla REsende of Carson-Newman University.

Also in today's consolation action Kim Yatribi (Frejus, France) took down Vicky Beardsley of Catawba College in a pair of 6-1 sets. Then, the No. 16-seed Yatribi was felled by No. 2-seed Adrienne Bofinger of the University of North Georgia 6-0, 6-2.

The Bobcats are back in action Oct. 4-5 hosting the GC Fall Championships.
