AUSTIN, Texas – The Collegiate Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) released the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America Division II Women's Track and Cross Country teams Wednesday, with Georgia College senior Sarah Wilder (Tifton) earning the first such honor in Bobcat Cross Country history.
Taking a spot on the Academic All-America Third Team, Wilder owns a 4.00 GPA in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. A three-time PBC All-Academic honoree, she was named the PBC Elite-15 Award recipient this year, given to the student-athlete with the best GPA among those at the PBC Championships. The 2019 Georgia College Valedictorian ran in five of the team's six races this year, her best finish being 31st at the VSU Border Clash.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 DII and DIII Academic AllAmerica® teams.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner Cup and the 2017 PBC Sportsmanship Institution of the Year, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
